About Us

We exist to join in the redemptive work of God in the city of Arvada.

What's the big deal?

Why the local church?

When Jesus finished his work on the cross and ascended to heaven, he left the future of this entire thing to a rag-tag group of people. They gathered regularly, ate meals, worshipped, studied the Scriptures, prayed for and cared for one another—and a new community of Jesus-followers was born. This group of people we call the church has always been God’s plan, not a human idea or convention. And it’s his only plan.

Becoming part of the community

Why join our local church?

We live in a commitment-phobic culture—whether that’s a relationship, an organization, or the latest streaming service. Many people would describe themselves today as being spiritual but not religious, so the idea that you would be connected to and committed to a local community feels strange and bizarre and confusing.

And yet, we believe that this commitment actually opens the doors for deep and authentic relationship with others in a world where people are increasingly isolated and alone. It creates opportunities for people to encounter the life-transforming Presence of God over a period of time, which has the power to shape every aspect of your life, in an age where most are simply looking for a quick fix.

And while we are not the only church in town, and certainly not the best one, we are committed to joining in God’s redemptive work in our city—which gives people an opportunity to give their lives toward something that truly matters.

Our Story

Joining in the redemptive work of God in the city of Arvada.

On September 11, 2001, Jay & Danielle Pathak, along with a dozen twenty-somethings, arrived in Arvada after a cross-country drive from Columbus, Ohio with a dream to start a church that could minister to those far from God.

We threw parties, got jobs, started families and slowly but surely a church formed, first meeting in a middle school and in small groups throughout Denver. We began to partner with the city of Arvada, other groups doing incredible work, and tried to love our literal neighbors. Before we knew it, a church had been planted in Arvada that was impacting hundreds of people!

Decades later, and after planting three additional Vineyard churches in the Denver area, we still believe that we are joining in God’s redemptive work in the city of Arvada. We believe that the gospel of Jesus is for everyone, that God heals people today, that we don’t have to be weird to follow Jesus, and that justice for the poor and marginalized is central to the message of the gospel. More recently, we moved into a historic building whose steeple stands like a beacon for the city. We believe the best is yet to come!
